Every August, since 2001, Club Polo Nacional hosts its Annual Polo for Cedars tournament. Recognizing that for many of us, the life of someone close to us, a friend, a wife, mother, sister, daughter, has been affected by breast cancer, participants and sponsore gather at Polo Parc Farm in Hudson to watch a superb polo tournament with players from Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Argentina. In a city noted for many worthy fundraising efforts, this event provides a refreshing new venue to appeal to the generous Montreal community. Through the proceeds of this event, Cedars has been able to contribute to patient support programs at the Cedars Breast Clinic of the MUHC.
On August 9, 2008 the sun was shinning as 320 guests arrived to the annual Polo for Cedars at Club Polo Nacional in Hudson. Guests arrived to a champagne reception followed by a delicious lunch catered by Java U. The players and umpires for the first polo match were marched in on their horses by a pipe and drum band. Following the exciting first match, guests stretched their legs to stomp divets on the polo field ("Pretty Woman" style) and the winner of the ladies hat contest was announced. Guests enjoyed the second match which was followed by the live auction which included a trip to Costa Careyes with a luxury village for 3 couples, including maid and butler service and various activities and Larry Robinson's autographed Canadiens jersey (his number retired in 2008).
