Description of the activity:
A Night at the Music Hall
February 20th promises to be a great night for fans of the world renowned Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir, founded and directed by Trevor W. Payne. The choir is set to perform the best-loved songs from their repertoire and will be joined on stage by:
Buzz Band … What began as a musical meeting of friends in 30 years ago in Paris grew into a popular three-man band in the1980s. The Buzz Band consists of Jerry Mercer (April Wine, Mashmakhan, Trevor Payne and His Soul Brothers, and Roy Buchanan), Breen LeBoeuf (Offenbach, Celine Dion, April Wine, Chimo) and John McGale (Offenbach, Julie Masse, Dan Bigras and John & Toyo). The Buzz Band has performed for many special events and to raise awareness for cancer research and the Missing Children’s Network.
Daniel Clarke Bouchard … this 12-year-old is often called a piano prodigy, and for good reason. He has numerous honours to his name, including receiving the grand prize for three consecutive years at McGill University’s Joy of Music Festival, and gold medals at the 2009 Montreal Classical Music Festival and the 2011 Canadian Music Competition. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, and alongside the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the great Oliver Jones.
Cadillac Music … A six-man band inspired by music of the 50s, 60s and 70s,this group first came together as teenagers when many of those songs were first released as new hits. These bandmates and friends are still going strong, brought closer by the fact four of them have undergone radical prostate surgery.
Ekspresyon Dance Troupe…. Founded in 2003 by Régine Cadet and Sibyl Graham, Ekspresyon Dance Troupe aims to promote Haitian culture through the country’s traditional dance.
Ezra Lewis… TheLakeside Academy student is one of the newest members of the world renowned Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir. She has been singing since she was just six years old, starting with Calypso before branching out to other styles.
The event will benefit the Trevor W. Payne Men’s Cancers Fund —a groundbreaking initiative that will have a major impact on men’s cancers in our community. The fund was created as means for Trevor Payne to give back to the medical team and the McGill University Health Centre where he was successfully treated for prostate cancer in 2009.
