Cedars Congratulates Board Member Anthony Calvillo on Being Named to Canadian Football Hall of Fame
March 23, 2017—The Cedars Cancer Foundation extends its warmest congratulations to Anthony Calvillo, —Board member, invaluable supporter and long-time friend—on being named to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017 in his first year of eligibility.
“It goes without saying that Anthony Calvillo accomplishments on the field as a star quarterback for the Montreal Alouettes are worthy of this appointment,” noted Mark Saykaly, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cedars Cancer Foundation. “He is equally a star off the field. Our Board is grateful for his active involvement in Cedars’ charitable efforts on behalf of cancer patients and their families.”
Anthony Calvillo (and his wife Alexia) has been a valued ambassador of Cedars for many years. His leadership has been demonstrated time and again, be it in raising funds for Cedars CanSupport, for priority needs and for the Alexia and Anthony Calvillo Cedars Family Room, or by generating smiles amongst admiring cancer patients during unscheduled visits to cancer patients receiving treatment in the Cedars Cancer Centre at the Glen site of the McGill University Health Centre.
“Anthony is a phenomenal role model,” added Jeff Shamie, President and CEO of the Cedars Cancer Foundation. “We are thrilled that the spotlight is being shone on such a kind and generous individual. By choosing to give his time to Cedars, he continues to raise awareness about the critical needs of cancer patients and their families, something he and Alexia understand from first-hand experience. His help is immeasurable. Congratulations, Anthony from your Cedars family and thank you!”
