Over $480,000 raised

Montreal, QC. – Thanks to the 240 golfers, over 100 sponsors, and a host of staff and volunteers, the Cedars Cancer Foundation and the Montreal General Hospital Foundation celebrate another successful edition of the Cedars Golf Classic by raising over $480,000 on Monday, June 21, 2021.

This exciting golf tournament supports the Cedars Cancer Center priority needs as well as the Montreal General Hospital’s priority needs in surgical oncology. The funds will serve to fulfill top priorities in patient care, research and education across the continuum of life, from pediatric, adolescent and adult care to survivorship, supportive and palliative care.

The weather defied the meteorologist and gave us a day of sun with only two tense rain moments. Participants were treated to two beautifully maintained courses, numerous incredible food and beverage stations, live scoring through a dedicated app, and a relaxing post-round al fresco cocktail experience. The online silent auction had golfers and supporters alike bidding for such prizes as a Bell Centre Loge, lunch and golf with Montreal Canadiens and Montreal Alouettes Alumni, collectibles, electronics, and more!

The event brought together like-minded individuals and corporations who understand the need to continuously support cancer patients in their most vulnerable moments. As Dr. Armen Aprikian, Medical Director, Cedars Cancer Centre and Chief of the MUHC Cancer Care Mission mentioned in his post event speech, we are now seeing an increase in the number of cancer patients who need treatment. The pandemic kept some people at home and now that the path to care is clearer, we need even more philanthropy funding than previously expected.

“We feel fortunate to be able to make this large contribution to the Cedars Cancer Care Mission.” said Demo Trifonopoulos, Co-chair of the Cedars Golf Classic. “The generosity of our donors is absolutely amazing. The support of all of our sponsors, participants as well as the dedication of all our volunteers is what makes this event such a success.”
Thank you to our event co-chairs Demo Trifanopolous, Paul Sawaya, Andrew Carter, Dominic Costantini and Kim Anderson as well as to our sponsors, donors, participants and volunteers. Their contributions are instrumental in allowing us to offer hope to cancer patients and their families.
